Dear Cassidy,
I am pleased to offer you the position of lab aide for Academic
Technology at The New School! The position starts at $10 an hour.
You must work a minimum of 3 shifts a week and can work up to 20
hours. As we discussed your shifts and the position will be in
the EQC (Equipment Center) located at 55 West 13th Rm. 921.
Do you know what this means?! I will be paid to train on every piece
of equipment and software required to make everything from Music
videos to movies, website design to building design. .. pro-tools,
quick edit pro, sound labs, blue room back drops, ... digital
video cameras, mixi boards,.... it's kinda like a a dream come true.
I'm kinda really fucking excited... and I don't care that that makes
me a big dork. I'm comfortable with that. When I left the interview
the woman said she's, "never seen someone so excited about the
idea of working as a lab aid".
The down side?
8am-2:30 two days of the week and 2:30-10:00pm Fridays, . . . . yeach!
But I will survive!
This is only for semester one, I've got three more to improve my schedule.
Job #2
This past week I worked my first bartender shift and I'm happy to report
that it went well. It was an open mic night and a VERY mixed munch.
Some dirty poetry from old hippies, some R n' B from brothers in the
hood, lots of comedy- most of which was better than decent, some
nice un-plugged guitar song writer types, ... I made about $40 plus my
hourly,,, which is I don't know how much to be honest... I'll say this,
it's more than I've been making for 8h of work at the Italian restaurant.
Job #1
The Italian restaurant continues to feed me very well and pay very
badly. The most I've made at a shift there was $80. The average is
closer to $40 for apx. 8h of work.... basically, CRAP! But I'm thinking
that Aug. has got to be a slow month in a neighborhood kinda place.
Apparently most shifts I don't work people are making closer to $200
or $400... hummm I must be their bad luck charm.

Photos of my new hood
I've done a terrible job updating this blog since moving here close to a month ago. I've added oodles of photos of trips, plants and views from my roof to facebook.
Today I joined one of Americas largest food coops, the Park Slope Coop I'm in love! Gimmy lean for $2.25 ? SOLD!
I'm starting a new job this week at a lovely little cafe, Perch cafe, a few blocks down the street. Their training me to work as bartender (nights) and barista (days). It's a family friendly haven deep in Park Slope .
I did have a job for a few weeks working for these two Italien guys straight off the boat from Napoli. However,,,, since they didn't pay me- I quit. The food the served up made it worth it for a while but after making $1o for 8h of work... there was no way I could justify sticking around.
I've had many great visitors: Matt, Shelly, Jowey, Brian and soon Matt will return, as will Jowey :)
My roomates (all three of them) are great.
I had a great time this past Sunday at a rooftop party in Manhatten at Bar 13. That was thanks to a new friend from the Mutek World. No, it can't compair to Picknick, but hey, I've got to keep an open mind.
